We are Paula & Michael. We bought Café Elefant in 2024 because we completely fell in love with the charm of this little - now 45 year old - café! If you feel the same way, please help us keep it alive.
Drink so much coffee that you can’t sleep all night. Maybe you'll finally go out dancing again! That's a great alternative!
Eat cake and blinis until your arms stick out. Heavier people are harder to kidnap.
Drink so much beer and wine that everyone around you becomes so beautiful it’s almost unbearable!
what you can expect at
Café Elefant has been around since October 1980. Time has stood still here in the best possible way: red wood paneling on the walls, high ceilings, chandeliers from the 1920s, 100-year-old Thonet chairs, and an open fireplace where the fire crackles cozily in the colder months.
Outside, on the plane-tree-lined avenue of Weißenburgerstrasse, a small terrace invites you to linger. Since 1980, Café Elefant has been serving delicious breakfast just like Grandma's: fresh rolls, cold cuts, cheese, and scrambled eggs. No frills!
We also serve freshly prepared farmhouse bread, homemade stews, quiche, cakes, and Sicilian almond pastries. Café Elefant is famous for its blinis; our homemade pancakes.
Naturally, we also offer the most delicious specialty coffees and a highly curated selection of fine teas. And of course, you’ll find a good wine on our menu, too!

Reservations
On weekends, it gets so incredibly busy that we can only reserve a table for you for a maximum of 1.5 hours. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we will release your table.
We also ask for a minimum spend of €15 per person on weekends. Cancellations are free of charge up to 24 hours in advance.
In the event of a no-show, we charge a cancellation fee of €10 per person.
We only have 9 tables, so we kindly ask for your understanding regarding this admittedly strict-sounding rule.
We love what we do. We love being hosts. And we are thrilled if you find your own little piece of happiness with us over a cup of coffee. Feel free to give us a call or just drop by. We look forward to seeing you!
In addition to Café Elefant, you can also find us with our three mobile cafés almost every weekend at events and in the Rheinauhafen at the German Sport & Olympic Museum. You might know our mobile cafés as „Das kleine Café Glück“ (The Little Café of Happiness).
